SIH Launches New Financial Instrument for Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy and Public Building Renovation
Bratislava, September 2, 2026 - Slovak Investment Holding (SIH) has launched a new financial instrument designed to support investment in energy efficiency, renewable energy and the renovation of public buildings. Financing will be available in cooperation with VÚB Bank, Tatra banka, ČSOB, Slovenská sporiteľňa and Slovak Guarantee and Development Bank.
The new financial instrument will support projects that help reduce the energy consumption of buildings, improve energy efficiency, expand the use of renewable energy and modernise public infrastructure. Its aim is to make financing more accessible for investments that reduce operating costs while contributing to Slovakia’s environmental and climate objectives.
The instrument is available to businesses, public sector bodies and other eligible organisations planning investments that reduce energy consumption, increase the use of renewable energy or modernise public buildings. Supported projects may include measures to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and operations, the installation of renewable energy systems for own consumption, and deep renovation of public buildings.
The instrument combines loan financing with a portfolio guarantee and grant support. This approach improves access to finance and helps unlock projects that might otherwise be implemented only on a limited scale or at a higher cost without public support.
For energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, grants may cover approximately 15% to 20% of the loan principal, while grants for public building renovation may cover up to 49% of the loan principal. Grants are paid once the project has been successfully completed and all programme conditions have been met.
The new financial instrument is intended to broaden access to finance for projects delivering measurable energy and environmental benefits, while supporting investment in greater energy efficiency and the wider use of renewable energy across Slovakia.
Financing is provided through the participating banks: VÚB Bank, Tatra banka, ČSOB, Slovenská sporiteľňa and Slovak Guarantee and Development Bank. Further information on financing options, eligibility requirements, support conditions and the availability of individual products can be obtained directly from the participating banks.
