Slovakia Among Europe’s Leading Examples!

Bratislava, September 24, 2025 – The Dostupný Domov project has been featured in the 2025 State of the Union Address presented by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The document highlights the project as an example of a European solution for affordable rental housing – even through the personal story of one of its tenants, illustrating the project’s real-life impact on people’s lives.

Affordable housing is becoming one of Europe’s key priorities. The reason is clear: rising property prices, slowing construction activity and rapidly increasing rents are challenges affecting countries across the EU. This is also why a new European Affordable Housing Plan is being developed.

For us at SIH, this is a great honour and a strong motivation to continue supporting modern, innovative and sustainable solutions that respond to society’s needs – because affordable housing is not just an issue for Slovakia, but for Europe as a whole.
