SIH invests in Filmzie

10.02.2022

Bratislava, February 10, 2022 - Slovak Investment Holding (SIH) concluded an investment in Filmzie in late 2021 under the SIH Anti-Corona Capital Programme which brings development capital to innovative companies in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Filmzie is a Slovak technology company with its own streaming platform based on the principle of free playback of films and series with advertising-based video on demand (AVoD). The service allows viewers to choose any film from the offer, while during its playback the viewer is shown advertising content, the volume of which, however, is smaller compared to classic commercial television. The service is available on all currently used devices - smart TVs, mobile phones, set-top boxes or via a web interface. Filmzie is primarily targeting English-speaking markets, where, after launching the service in the UK, the company also successfully entered the US market during 2021. Hundreds of thousands of viewers use the service globally, to whom Filmzie delivers a mix of well-known titles and independent productions, setting it apart from other streaming services.

"We are delighted with the trust and support from Slovak Investment Holding, which will help us to raise awareness of Filmzie in our key markets and enable us to acquire more exciting movie titles, which are the foundation of our ever-growing user base," says Matej Boďa, CEO of Filmzie.

The partners of the SIH Anti-Corona Capital Programme are the Slovak Alliance for Innovative Economy (SAPIE) and the Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic.
